What is extrasensory perception?
What is extrasensory perception?
Extrasensory perception is an expression widely used in Parapsychology, and involves the most diverse mental faculties inherent to some people, known as sensitive or psychic. These capacities that go beyond the conventional senses present in everyone, are also called ‘psi’.
People with these skills have a more accurate perception of events and objects around them, without having to resort to the most used sense organs. The first serious and respectable scientist to study these events and to name them extra-sensory phenomena was Joseph Banks Rhine, in 1934.
Despite being a subject that attracts a lot of attention, there are still doubts about exactly what extrasensory perception is. Hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch are the five senses that put us in connection with the world.
The information captured by the five senses is sent through the central nervous system to be processed by our thoughts and emotions. The interpretation we give to this information will result in behavior. However, there is something more than that: there is information that reaches us beyond the five senses and that greatly affects our life and our relationships.
What is extrasensory perception?
Extrasensory perceptions enable us to receive information that goes beyond the five known senses. They are innate, but suffocated through our interactions with the world since pregnancy.
I call these capacities Soul Senses, as they are linked to a state of transcendence between the physical and the spiritual. They reside in the field of what we call intuition and, therefore, they can manifest spontaneously, in a seemingly random manner or in specific contexts.
There are five senses of the soul. Are we going to meet them?
1. Mental interconnectivity - Telepathy
Also known as telepathy or mind-to-mind communication, this ability allows you to know the mental and emotional content of others without resorting to speech, writing or any other physical means of communication.
2. Clairvoyance
Clairvoyance is a word of French origin that means clear vision. The clairvoyant is one who sees clearly, without the bonds of physical vision. Some of the visions detected by clairvoyance are: the energetic manifestation of people, which we call the aura, seeing what is in certain places of which we are not aware, knowing the content of hidden things and see beings that are not physically present.
3. Precognition
It is the ability to anticipate future events. Precognition is not always manifested in images, it can also appear as a message or sensation. In fact, it is very common for precognition to manifest itself in dreams.
4. Retrocognition
It is the ability to know past events that you have not witnessed or that you have no memory of. Retrocognition involves a series of phenomena such as regression of past lives and time lapse!
5. Psychokinesis
It is the ability to influence physical objects and systems, without resorting to physical interaction, through the force of thought.
Among the means of developing extrasensory perceptions, Meditation, Activation of Energy Centers and Energy Maneuvers stand out.
On meditation, in particular, it is interesting to note that the development of extrasensory abilities has been described by the Buddhist tradition.
Gautama Buddha is credited with a series of "miracles" like levitation and telepathy!
