Passage of Druid Degrees [Druid Study]
Druidic rituals usually involve a blessing to the place, a request for peace, offerings to the spirits of the place - so that there is mutual acceptance in the place -, offerings to the deities, healing actions, divination with ogham, physical actions (like going through the fires). beltane or perform ritual dances), prayers, circumambulations - circular movement to mark a sacred area around a central point - evocations / offerings to ancestors and deities, honor to the beings of the three kingdoms (sea, land and sky) and a ritual banquet where drinks - usually beer and mead - and food - breads, cakes, grains, fruits - are shared among all participants.
We celebrate closed rituals between the clan and open to the tribe and guests, usually in a pre-determined place, since we believe that good contact with the local spirits occurs with their own coexistence. Not only the presence of druids and druidists, but also - and especially - the successive obeisances and offerings sacralize the place and make it, with each rite, more receptive and positive.
Seasonal rites are often open and public, since Celts also celebrated them in this way. They were rites and celebrations where the tribe met, with games, fairs, in short, a meeting in reverence for a deity or theme (a sacred date, for example), where everyone could participate. Modern druids also follow these molds.
Open rites are generally light and festive rites, to which children and practitioners of other religions can participate without fear. There are no incorporations, no use of psychoactive plants or any action that could put its participants at risk.
There are also daily rites, usually devoted to some deity, and periodic rites that a group practices when meeting.
Some groups have initiation rites, which in this case is followed by training in one of the degrees of Druidry, Bard, Vate or Druid. Much is said in initiation as if it were an act of pure magic, in which the initiate is transformed in a few hours into a priest or a superior being. This is all a myth. The initiation rite is exactly what it says, the beginning. It is certainly transformative, but the strongest effects happen along the way and not in the rite itself. In the case of Druidry, initiation consists of transmitting a lineage, as if the initiate were entering a family. The initiate then has the responsibility of honoring the family he chose to join, especially with his acts - the worst dishonor is to embarrass the family name with petty, weak and egosistic acts - and he must also learn the wisdom of that family and use it in your day-to-day, as well as in the rituals when you feel able to conduct them.
It is worth saying that in Druidry any practitioner can celebrate their personal rituals, erect their altar to the gods, make their offerings and their connections with the invisible world. In the case of large major rites - public or closed - we advise that it be conducted by a priest, especially if it involves healing, spiritual cleansing and magic. These require, in addition to a great deal of responsibility, a lot of practice and some knowledge that is passed on specific training.
